TAR DNA binding protein 43 (TDP-43) is a highly conserved protein that binds RNA via its two RNA recognition motifs RRM1 and RRM2, thereby regulating RNA processing. Binding regulates mRNA stability by recruiting CNOT7/CAF1 deadenylase on mRNA 3’UTR leading to poly(A) tail deadenylation and thus, shortening.
TDP-43 aggregates are linked to numerous neurodegenerative diseases, including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), frontotemporal dementia (FTD), Alzheimer’s disease (AD), and limbic predominant age-related TDP-43 encephalopathy (LATE).
This TDP-43 antibody is raised against the phosphorylated form at serines 409 and 410, this modification is associated with the pathological aggregated TDP-43. We also have an antibody available for the unphosphorylated form of TDP-43.
