Manufactured in: United Kingdom Temporins are mainly active against Gram-positive bacteria, with low minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values. Temporin B is part of the temporin family and contains the conserved signature sequence with weak cationic charge. Temporin AMP activity against bacteria and mycetes is well characterised, with some having antiviral activity against viruses. Temporin B shows activity against herpes simplex virus (HSV-1).
Temporin B is a viable AMP for therapeutics, showing no hemolytic or cytotoxicity to mammalian cells in vitro. Analogues have been generated to amplify the activity as an AMP, antiviral or antifungal such as against HSV-1 and Candida albicans.
