Enzyme Modulators

Enzymes are macromolecular biological catalysts which accelerate chemical reactions, and enzyme modulators are agents able to inhibit or activate enzymes. This product category includes modulators of enzyme classes such as oxidoreductases, transferases, hydrolases, lyases, isomerases and ligases as well as kinase inhibitors and other enzymes involved in cell signalling. Almost all metabolic processes in the cell need enzyme catalysis in order to occur at rates fast enough to sustain life.
Enzymes are known to catalyze more than 5,000 biochemical reaction types. Most enzymes are proteins, although a few are catalytic RNA molecules known as ribozymes. Enzyme modulators are key tools in cancer research, cell biology and biochemistry.
