G-Protein Coupled Receptor Family C Group 5 Member B (GPRC5B), also knowns as RAIG2) is a member of the type 3 G protein-coupled receptor superfamily, characterised by the signature 7-transmembrane domain motif. In mammals, GPRC5 receptors have been shown to include four subtypes: GPRC5A (RAIG1), GPRC5B (RAIG2), GPRC5C (RAIG3) and GPRC5D. It is a retinoic acid-inducible G-protein coupled receptor, with the potential to provide evidence for an interaction between retinoid and G-protein signalling pathways.
It is predicted to be involved in cell migration, through positive regulation of the WNT signalling pathway, and in localisation of proteins to the extracellular cell surface membrane. GPRC5B is an all-trans retinoic acid gene, suggested to be involved in neuronal cell differentiation, tubulogenesis and renal regeneration.
