E3 Ubiquitin ligase proteins mediate ubiquitination and subsequent proteasomal degradation of target proteins. E3 ubiquitin ligases accept ubiquitin from an E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme as a thioester and then directly transfer the ubiquitin to targeted substrates. DZIP3 is located in the cytoplasm and can bind RNA specifically. DZIP3 enables several functions, including phosphatase binding activity; polyubiquitin modification-dependent protein binding activity; and ubiquitin-protein transferase activity. In addition, DZIP3 is involved in protein polyubiquitination.
