AIP1/Alix is a host protein with anti-interferon capacity which suppresses viral RNA. AIP1/Alix interacts with the C-protein, an accessory protein of Sendai virus (SeV), with the apoptosis-linked-gene 2 (ALG-2) protein and with the Aspergillus class E vacuolar protein sorting protein (Vps) protein Vps32 homologue, a member of a protein complex involved in the early steps of the multivesicular body pathway.
Aip1/Alix antibodies can be used as effective exosomal markers.
